The envelope containing Service Recognition Incentive money was owned by Oliva Alimes Pelias of Pandulian Elementary School in Kapalong East District, a cancer survivor teacher. Ashnor Abbas Cadato was with his mom Asleah when he found the envelop at the North Davao Electric Cooperative (NORDECO) Office in Tagum City, Davao del Norte on January 4, 2023.

He knew right away that he had to give it back to the owner when he opened it and discovered the cash inside. Asleah, Ashnor’s mother, uploaded a picture of the envelope with the owner’s name on Facebook in an attempt to track down the owner after Ashnor gave her the envelope.

As she and her kid had to return home to Talaingod, she handed the money up to the NORDECO security guard. The envelope had been missing for hours, so teacher Oliva was astonished to learn that it had been found.

Teacher Oliva claimed that she misplaced the envelope after using some of the funds to settle electric bill at NORDECO. When someone told her that the envelope with the P2,000 had been found, she felt relieved. Due to the fact that she was unable to leave her class at that time, her niece claimed the money.

Teacher Oliva continued by saying that since she was a cancer survivor, the money in the envelope was intended to help with some of her medical expenses. She also mentioned that she needs vitamins to maintain a strong immune system.

Since then, Ashnor has received compliments for his honesty and integrity from his peers, instructors, and internet users. His deeds serve as a reminder to all of us of the power of kindness and honesty.
