Juan Karlos or JK Labajo rose to fame after joining the first season of The Voice Kids Philippines. After his The Voice stint, he ventured acting. He debuted via the drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya playing himself for his own life story.

He also played the role of Charles Kenneth “CK” Rodriguez in Hawak-Kamay in 2014 and as Vincent “Amboy” Mobido in Pangako Sa ‘Yo from 2015 up to 2016. Then, he portrayed the role of Lucas Noble, the son of Ian Veneracion and Iza Calzado’s characters in the defunct romantic family drama, A Love to Last.

It was just recently when the cast of the musical film, “Ako Si Ninoy”, the follow-up project of Katips, had been revealed. Singer-actor Juan Karlos Labajo portrays the role of Ninoy Aquino in the said project.

Asked for his reaction when he learned that he’s playing the role of Ninoy Aquino in the movie, he said: “First reaction ko po, actually, it was really weird para sa akin. Kasi, I mean, I’ve always been a musician that acts rather than an actor who sings.”

“But I’ve always had a huge love for film and after such a long time of [not] doing anything like acting. And then they offered me the role and then I felt that parang, ‘Tama ba ‘to?’,” he added.

He’s hoping that he was able to justify his biggest role so far. According to Juan Karlos Labajo as per entertainment website, Push, he considered playing Ninoy as a “role of a lifetime.”

Joining the cast of Ako si Ninoy are Cassy Legaspi, Marlo Mortel, Sarah Holmes, Joaquin Domagoso, JM Yosures, and to name a few. The film is written and directed by Vince Tañada.
