It can be recalled that the price of a kilo of onions in the market has reached 750 pesos in the midst of the holiday season. In his post on social media, Clavio shared an edited photo of Jose Rizal and said that even the national hero will rise from the grave because of the price of onions.

In his poem, he asked if the shortage of onion supply was intentional which caused the prices to increase. He also mentioned the name of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who’s also the secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Here’s the poem of Arnold Clavio:

“Kahit si Pepe ay babangon sa hukay ,
Di matanggap ang presyo ng gulay ,
Kapabayaan ba o kahinaan na matatawag
Bakit hinayaang lumala ng ganap ?
Artipisyal ba o may totoong problema ?

Meanwhile, the government continues to take action to control the price of onions. Last December 30, the DA implemented the suggested retail price of red onion in the market at P250.
