Soriano is the husband of actress-host Toni Gonzaga.

He is the director of some well-known films such as A Journey Home (2009), Thelma (2011), Kid Kulafu (2015), and Dukot (2016).

During the election period, Paul served as director of campaign ads for his “ninong” President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

His most recent assignment at Malacañang Palace was as the director of the president’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Recently, he revealed that he was offered to become the press secretary, replacing Trixie Cruz-Angeles- who resigned from her post on Tuesday, October 4, due to health reasons.

However, he declined such a government post.

“Yes, there was a conversation but I feel that the position needs more qualified people to help the President,” the film director said.

“I can be of better service behind the scenes working with the President’s media and communications team,” he added.

Meanwhile, PBBM had earlier administered oaths to newly appointed and re-appointed officials. Trixie Cruz-Angeles’ name, however, did not appear on the list of newly hired and rehired Cabinet members.

According to Malacanang, Marcos administered the oath of office to new Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and ten other Cabinet members who were reappointed after the powerful Commission on Appointments ‘bypassed’ their nominations.

Ivan John Uy, Secretary of Communications and Information Technology, was also not on the list of reappointed Cabinet members.

Following the resignation of Angeles, Jose Calida also resigned from his post as commissioner of the Commission on Audit (COA).

Then, Atty. Vic Rodriguez confirmed his exit from the administration of PBBM as executive secretary.
