According to him, although he already knew that he might lose a position in their family business and will not get any support from his family, he pursued his relationship with Melody, a Filipina, who’s now his wife.

Richard Yap is Chinese but his heart is “Pinoy na Pinoy” which is why having a Filipina girlfriend is very tough on him.

For Chinese people, as much as possible, they should only marry their fellow Chinese.

But for Richard, he opted to follow his heart which is why he fought for the woman he really love.

The actor recalled that when he graduated from college, he told himself that he will be the one who will choose whom he will date and eventually marry.

“Sabi ko, ‘Kaya ko na ‘to.’ “So nu’ng I found my wife now, when I met her, ayun naipaglaban ko na ito, kasi ito talaga ang ano ko e, ‘yung gusto ko eh,” he said.

Then, he revealed that after marrying Melody, he lost a position in their family business and did not get any support from them, especially from his father.

  1. They are actually very racist even how they term filipino in fookien is derogatory “huan na” which is used same way we refer to them as “Intsik”, “beho”. Everyone is actually racist. Need I say more how racist we are too as a nation? Wala lang kasi tayong binatbat sa global economics kaya tayo lagi doesnt count ang opinion sa mundo. Para lang sa magkakapatid yan yung walang pera walang boses sa bahay tama ba?
