Richard Yap is an actor-singer, model, and businessman of Chinese descent.
He is best known for portraying Richard “Sir Chief” Lim in Be Careful with My Heart and “Papa Chen” in My Binondo Girl.
After Be Careful with My Heart, Yap starred in Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita nd FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
On December 16, 2020, he signed his management contract with GMA Artist Center.
He also ventured into politics but failed. Presently, he’s gearing up for his role in “Abot Kamay na Pangarap.”
Recently, he appeared in the Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel wherein he talked about his love life.
At one point, he shared how he lost a position in their family business after pursuing his relationship with his Filipina wife, Melody.
Here are some details about their love story:
Richard was busy in their family business while Melody was attending to her duties as a flight attendant when they first met.
Apparently, his father was against their relationship because, for the Chinese, they should only marry their fellow Chinese.
It was in the year 1993 when they first got married via a civil wedding ceremony, Two years later, they tied the knot again at a church wedding.
They were blessed with two kids, Dylan and Ashley.
Their love story was once featured in the real-life drama anthology, Magkailanman.
