The Philippine men’s basketball team defeated Saudi Arabia scoring 84-46 in favor of Gilas Pilipinas.

Among those present in their match was no less than Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Marcos Jr. took to social media wherein he extended his congratulations to the men’s basketball team.

“Kumpiyansa tayo na gagawin nila ang lahat ng kanilang makakaya para makapagdala ng karangalan sa bansa,” he wrote.

PBBM personally watched the match between Gilas Pilipinas and Saudi Arabia. He arrived at MOA Arena during the third quarter of the game.

Aside from PBBM, also present in the match were former President Rodrigo Duterte and his longtime aide, Senator Bong Go.

All in all, there were over 19,000 people who watched the game.

The Gilas Pilipinas vs Saudi Arabia game marked the debut of Jordan Clarkson, a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA), in the Philippine team.

“The one thing that we wanted to focus on before the game was to just get better. To play better than our previous game against Lebanon. That meant having better effort, and specifically, cutting down on our turnovers,” Chot Reyes, the head coach of Gilas Pilipinas said after the match.

“I think today, we had 15 turnovers, and that’s pretty acceptable. So very happy for the result, and even happier for the effort that the players put forth in this ball game,” he added.
