Senator Angara Wants PBBM To Promote Local Products During SONA 2022

SENATOR SONNY ANGARA — The senator said on Friday that he wanted to hear plans on helping Filipino producers and promoting local products in President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr’s 1st SONA (State of the Nation Address).

The President is set to deliver his first State of the Nation Address on July 25 at the Batasang Pambansa Complex.

On Tuesday, PNP Director for Operations PMGen Valeriano de Leon told TeleRadyo that more than 20,000 troops will be deployed in order to secure the President’s first SONA.

He added that among those included in the deployment for the President’s first SONA are active disturbance management groups.

In an interview on ABS CBN’s TeleRadyo, the senator said that promoting Philippine products and helping Filipino producers is an advocacy of his that he wants President Bongbong Marcos to also address during the State of the Nation Address.

Senator Angara said that he has been helping local producers through the Department of Informations and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Also, the senator proposed the strengthening of research and development on local products in order to boost its competitiveness among other products.

If you have research and development, you have a better product and you have a more competitive product,” the senator said. “Once your product is good, laban na lang kayo sa marketing at saka pagbebenta ng produkto na kapwa magagaling.

Aside from this, the senator said that it is important that President Bongbong Marcos inspires hope among Filipino people in his first State of the Nation Address.
