Earlier, Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. filed a petition to change the name of NAIA to Ferdinand E. Marcos International Airport.

But former Wowowee dancer is not in favor of the proposal despite being one of the supporters of the Marcoses.

“But in my own honest opinion since we want to portray the image of unity maybe let’s not put the name Marcos International Aiport coz it will only divide us,” she said.

According to her, many will disagree with the proposal including herself. She suggests dropping its current name instead and replacing it with “RR Enriquez International Airport.” Obviously, she was just poking fun on the matter.

RR Enriquez or Romyreen Enriquez in real life rose to fame as one of the dancers on the variety and game show Wowowee.

She later became one of its hosts alongside Mariel Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion, and Pokwang.

Meanwhile, a lot of renowned personalities have expressed their disapproval to change the name of the airport.

One of which is Tricia Robredo, the daughter of former Vice President Leni Robredo.

In a Twitter post, Robredo questioned the proposal to change the name of NAIA amid what is happening in the country’s economy.

A netizen commented on her post claiming that renaming an airport can cost millions- from changing signages leading to it to changing the names in control prompts both locally and internationally.
