Earlier, incoming Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco said that she’s going to open up Mindanao to tourism.

However, the pronouncement earned a negative reaction from journalist Raissa Robles.

“Apparently, Frasco would like to open up Mindanao to tourism. I’m sure the extremist Abu Sayyaf and other bandits would be pleased by the prospects of so many potential kidnap victims. Way to go, Frasco. Prep yourself for ransom negotiations. ASG might ask you to nego personally,” she wrote.

Robles’ statement against Mindanao generated reactions from famous personalities to ordinary individuals.

Recently, a Canadian blogger named Kyle Jennermann whose also known as Kulas or BecomingFilipino took to social media wherein he reacted to the controversial statement of the journalist.

In his Facebook post, Kulas defended Mindanao which he considered his home since he come to the Philippines in 2013.

Although Kulas did not drop any names, it’s clear that he’s addressing his lengthy post to Raissa Robles.

His post has gone viral garnering over 7,000 shares and more than 24k reactions as of posting.

Kulas has been processing his Filipino citizenship.

Aside from BecomingFilipino, among those who reacted to Raissa Robles’ comment on Mindanao is no less than incoming Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a statement she released addressed to Robles, she slammed the latter due to her irresponsible and discriminatory views of Mindanao and the Mindanawons.

The presidential daughter lauded that since her father came into office in 2016, kidnapping operations by Abu Sayyaf Group in Mindanao have been significantly reduced. She added that there had been zero kidnappings in Basilan.
