Some netizens especially supporters of BBM changed their profile picture on the social networking platform, Facebook to red, calling it “Operation Red Tile.”

Apparently, there are those who did not like the idea and one of which is a singer and activist Dong Abay.

In a tweet, he gave his interpretation of the color red which is being used as a profile picture by Marcos’ supporters.

According to the OPM icon and former vocalist of the band Yano, the color red can be compared to the dignity of its users.

“RE: ‘Yung profile pic mong red. Sa mga art galleries, kung ang artwork ay red sticker ibig sabihin “sold.” At sa mga malls, supermarkets, shops, ang ibig sabihin ng red dot ay “on sale”, o “bargain price”, sa madaling salita, solid cheap o murang nabili. Dignidad,” he said.

Westdon Martin Abay or popularly known as Dong Abay was the founding member, songwriter, and lead vocalist of the bands Yano, Pan, and dongabay, which are now all defunct.

In 2005, he pursued a solo career as an independent artist by releasing an album entitled Sampol.

In 2017, he formed a rock band named Dong Abay Music Organization or D.A.M.O.

Aside from Kumusta Na, Yano was behind the hit singles; Tsinelas, Banal Na Aso, Santong Kabayo, Trapo, Iskolar Ng Bayan, Esem, and to name a few.
