Mayor Sara’s spokesperson has issued a statement seemingly deflecting the senator’s dare, citing Mayor Sara’s ground campaign.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Friday night, April 29, Mayor Sara’s spokesperson and Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco said that Mayor Sara has been in the frontlines of the campaign since the beginning.

As every single one of the surveys have shown, Mayor Sara’s formidable lead continues to grow because the people clearly prefer her positive, unifying, and performance-based approach to the campaign,” Frasco said.

Frasco’s statement came after the senator challenged the Davao City mayor and her running mate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr to show up to presidential debates. According to Pangilinan, those candidates who didn’t show up often are hiding something.

He also called on the members of the Commission on Elections to respect their institution as they continue to tolerate some political candidates who are skipping their sponsored debates and interviews.

Pangilinan’s running mate Vice President Leni Robredo similarly issued a challenge to Bongbong Marcos. Bongbong’s spokesperson Atty. Vic Rodriguez rejected the challenge on his behalf.

Bongbong and Mayor Sara have drawn heavy flak for not attending presidential debates; both those hosted by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and those hosted by media entities.

While the former senator previously attended a debate hosted by the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) last February, the Davao City mayor has not attended any debate.
