Mike’s medical procedure was successful and he recovered quickly. In fact, he previously went to Cebu City last week to offer his condolences to the orphans of his fellow broadcaster and dySS station manager Bobby Nalzaro.

Mike personally gave Bobby’s family the award or posthumous award of Radio GMA Network Inc. for the deceased broadcaster.

Mike is considered one of the most popular broadcasters in the country.

He started his career in broadcasting as a staff announcer at the Manila Broadcasting Company in 1969.

Presently, he is the Consultant for radio operations of GMA Network, president of the network’s regional and radio subsidiary, RGMA Network Inc., and the Station Manager of Super Radyo DZBB 594 AM.

He’s also a mainstay of GMA’s newest primetime newscast “24 Oras.”

To recall, it was in 2018 he also took medical leave for the preparation of his heart bypass surgery. At the same time, he also admitted that he was being treated for kidney disease.

Throughout his career as a news anchor, he would cover numerous news events.

He also earned numerous awards and citations including the most child-friendly personalities by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and thrice consecutively by the Anak TV Seal awards.
