Pacquiao will run for president in the coming May 9, 2022 election together with his runningmate Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza.

They will go against the tandem of; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

But for Pacquiao, does not believe in the emerging results of pre-poll surveys wherein he’s getting a low score.

In a recent interview, he said that he’s not worried despite getting low scores in surveys like Pulse Asia.

According to him, the real result of the polls will only be known after the election.

Pacquiao claimed that possibly only the rich people participate in the said surveys and not the poor and marginalized.

“Sino kaya maniwala doon? Dapat tinanong nila yung mga ano, baka yung mga mayayaman lang tinanong nila. Hindi nila tinanong yung mga mahihirap na tao,” he said.

He cited for example the turn of events in the 2016 elections wherein former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas and Sen. Grace Poe led but were only defeated by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Kahit zerohin pa nila ako sa Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, hindi pa rin ako matitinag,” he said. “Ano yan, mind-conditioning sa taumbayan.”

But some data shows that Duterte took the lead in the last surveys conducted by Pulse Asia and SWS before the election.

Meanwhile, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. leads in the survey conducted by Pulse Asia while Pacquiao earned only 8 percent.
