Is Willie Revillame ungrateful to GMA?
Veteran TV host Willie Revillame is being accused of having no “utang na loob” after he decided not to renew his contract with GMA-7.
For almost seven years, Wowowin, the show of Willie, has been part of the primetime slot of the Kapuso network. However, it was revealed just recently, that the game show host did not renew the contract that the GMA has offered him.
It is because of his “delicadeza”. He said that he does not want to have negotiations with another company while he is still with GMA. For him, this was inappropriate and so he opted to just let his connection to the Kapuso network end.
Because of this, just like other artists who decided to transfer to another network from their previous home network, Willie Revillame is also being tagged “walang utang na loob”.
Based on the article in Manila Bulleting, the veteran TV host reacted to this stressing that that the entertainment industry is a business. “Sa industriyang ito, kapag hindi ka nagra-rating, tinatanggal ka. Pag nag-rate, napapakinabangan ka. Walang utang na loob? Hindi ho. Hindi niyo naiintindihan sinasabi ninyo,” Kuya Wil said.
The Wowowin host also stressed that artists who have high ratings and bankable are being taken care of by the network. For him, this is the reason why artists are doing their best to every opportunity that is given to them.
In a statement, the Kapuso management expressed that the decision of Willie Revillame is being respected. Even GMA CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon answered the letter of the veteran host saying that they understand where he is coming from and that they are wishing him good luck for his future endeavors.
