Robredo is gearing up for the highest position in the government this coming May 9, 2022 election.

Together with her runningmate, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, they will go against the tandem of; former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza as well as Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

In an interview, Robredo stressed that she is not in favor of online sabong.

Online sabong or eSabong is defined as the online/remote or off-site wagering/betting on live cockfighting matches, events, and/or activities streamed or broadcasted live from cockpit arena/s licensed or authorized by the Local Government Units having jurisdiction thereof.

“Hindi ako agree sa anything that can cause addiction sa atin. Lalo sa kabataan, sagabal ito hindi lang sa kanilang pagaaral kundi sa kanilang growth as young people. Nakaka-affect ito sa value system natin,” she said.

But Robredo reminded that it is not in his power or that of whoever will be the next president of the country to give the franchise to online cockfighting.

She suggested properly discussing and listening to the communities and groups that may be affected by having an online cockfighting franchise.

She said congress listens more to those who apply for the franchise, and not those who may be affected by granting the franchise to businesses.
