Known as a Duterte ally, Joey Salceda is endorsing VP Leni
Albay Representative Joey Salceda, a known Duterte ally, has expressed his support for the presidential candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo.
It is known to many that Salceda has been avidly supporting the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte. For several instances, the lawmaker highlighted the achievements of the Duterte administration.
However, during the campaign event for VP Leni’s presidential bid in Sorsogon, based on the report from The Philippine Star, Congressman Joey Salceda was there and he was wearing pink, the signature color of Robredo’s campaign.
The Duterte ally told local reporters that he is supporting the presidential candidacy of VP Leni. Salceda said that the Vice President is “good for the economy”.
Previously, Salceda said, who is also known to be close to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said that the presidential daughter was aiming for the position of president. However, Inday Sara is now running for vice president and as the running mate of former Senator Bongbong Marcos.
When Salceda was asked if he will support the vice-presidential bid of Sara Duterte, he refused to answer.
During the campaign sortie of VP Leni in Sorsogon, she was introduced by Governor Chiz Escudero who is running for Senator under the Nationalist People’s Coalition. Based on the report, the Sorsogon Governor is not publicly backing the presidential bid of Robredo although he is part of the ticket of the Vice President.
Escudero is also on the list of senatorial candidates under Sen Ping Lacson’s team and the team of Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Mayor Sara Duterte is also backing the senatorial bid of Chiz Escudero.
