Is Doc Willie Ong withdrawing his candidacy for vice president?
DOC WILLIE ONG – The Aksyon Demokratiko vice-presidential bet broke his silence on the claims that he will withdraw his bid.
Several candidates for the May 2022 Election have formed tandems. They are backed by political parties such as the tandem of Partido Aksyon Demokratiko‘s presidential bet, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and vice-presidential candidate, cardiologist Willie Ong.
Mayor Isko is vocal about his belief that the Philippine government needs a doctor. According to Doc Willie, the Manila Mayor even told him that he might not be the right candidate at some other time but he is really the right candidate now.
However, some of the supporters of Mayor Isko Moreno are pairing him with vice-presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. During his campaign sorties in Mindanao, Isko-Sara streamers are evident.
The camp of Mayor Isko decided not to bring Doc Willie with them during his 3-day campaign sorties in Mindanao to avoid putting the Aksyon Demokratiko‘s vice presidential bet in an awkward situation.
Despite the Isko-Sara pairing by some supporters, the Manila Mayor stressed that his vice-presidential candidate is Doc Willie. The cardiologist also assured his loyalty to the Mayor.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Doc Willie Ong dismissed the claims that he is switching parties. He also denied that he is withdrawing his bid for vice president in the upcoming election.
Doc Willie Ong stressed that he is pushing through with his vice presidential bid as it is for the people. He previously admitted that he’s hurt by the pairings of the Manila Mayor with other vice-presidential candidates but stressed that he will just do the right thing.
Doc Willie has over 16 million followers on social media. He previously sought a seat in the Senate but he did not win the election. Aksyon Demokratiko candidate in Maguindanao Zajid Mangudadatu said that he is friends with Doc Willie but he will be supporting Mayor Sara for vice president.
