Did you know Maris Racal also auditioned for Darna?
MARIS RACAL – The Kapamilya star revealed that she also auditioned for the role of Darna.
Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series is set to kick off this year.
It stars Jane de Leon as Darna/Narda Custodio, Joshua Garcia as Brian Samonte Robles, a policeman and Narda’s love interest, and Zaijan Jaranilla as Ricardo “Ding” Custodio, Narda’s brother and sidekick.
Aside from them also joining the series are Rio Locsin as Roberta Ferrer-Custodio, Kiko Estrada as Noah Ballesteros and Iza Calzado as Leonor Custodio, a “prime warrior” from Planet Marte and the mother of Ding and Darna’s human alter ego Narda. She is the “first Darna” who will pass on her magical stone to her daughter Narda.
The Darna role was originally offered to actress Liza Soberano. However, due to circumstances, it was given to Jane de Leon.
But did you know Maris Racal also auditioned for the said role?
In an interview with PEP, she revealed that she auditioned for the coveted Pinay superheroine.
“Lahat naman yata dumaan, parang pina-try. Oo, nag-try din ako. Nag-try din ako magsuot ng costume. It was fun, grabe. Super dami namin noon.”
Maris Racal opened up about her audition after sharing that it has been her dream to portray a superhero in a movie.
Meanwhile, Maris Racal rose to fame in 2014 after joining Pinoy Big Brother: All In where she placed second.
She grew up in a musically inclined family and learned to sing and play instruments at a young age. She can play the guitar, piano, ukulele, and beatbox, some of which she learned on her own by watching various videos online.
After her PBB stint, Maris Racal signed a deal with Star Magic. In February 2016, she was introduced as one of the members of the all-girl dance group, Girltrends.
The following year, she was officially launched as one of the members of ASAP’s sing-and-dance group, BFF5.
