In an Instagram post, Iza shared that becoming Darna was something she didn’t think would happen in her showbiz career as an actress. According to her, she honestly never thought or dreamt that she would be part of ABS-CBN’s iconic project even as a child growing up, wanting to be an actress.

The journey to this has been 17 years for me with a lot of painful parts that I have come to accept with grace because I know this is part of my journey to becoming my own kind of Darna,” Iza said.

Iza also shared that she’s grateful to ABS-CBN for the opportunity to be part of the said project. She added that she has learned to “believe in Divine timing” and was humbled by God’s plans.

Iza’s statement came after ABS-CBN announced last August 12 that she will be the “first Darna” in the Darna television series. The said announcement was made on the same day of Iza’s birthday.

PUSH reported that Iza will be passing her superpowers to Narda, who will be played by actress Jane de Leon.

Iza previously shared in an interview with ABS-CBN News that it had been four years since she first had a meeting about her role in the series. The actress added that she had been grateful since that moment.

She also shared that she has done some trainings without giving out all the stuff and it felt like it’s been such a long journey for her to get there. According to her, the role she’s going to play was more meaningful than what she could have played before.

According to ABS-CBN Head of TV Production Laurenti Dyogi, the Darna television series will start shooting in the last quarter of 2021.
