Body shaming is the act of deriding or mocking a person’s physical appearance.

Many have been expressing their thoughts on this matter.

One of which is actress and “Pumila Ka” singer, Maris Racal.

In an interview via PEP.ph, she admitted that “dati, hindi ko talaga gusto yung body ko kasi masyadong sobrang payat.”

Because of her appearance, she failed to get mature roles before.

She also received comments like “masyadong payatot,’ parang, ‘hindi nakakaganda, hindi nakaka-fresh.”

“Or parang,… like, very low na word like, ‘Ang tuyot mo na.’ Alam mo yun?” she added.

Those rude words affected her especially her self-confidence but through the years, she learned how to deal with them.

Meanwhile, Maris Racal rose to fame in 2014 after joining Pinoy Big Brother: All In where she placed second.

She grew up in a musically inclined family and learned to sing and play instruments at a young age. She can play the guitar, piano, ukulele, and beatbox, some of which she learned on her own by watching various videos online.

After her PBB stint, Maris Racal signed a deal with Star Magic. In February 2016, she was introduced as one of the members of the all-girl dance group, Girltrends.

The following year, she was officially launched as one of the members of ASAP’s sing-and-dance group, BFF5.
