On Monday, the mayor said that 215 more employees from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and Solid Waste Management Office (SWMO) will receive a pay hike.

They will now have a salary of P12,000 per month from the current salary only at P5,000 or P8,000.

They are also entitled to work full time or eight hours a day.

“Marami sa kanila ay street sweeper, makakatulong ito para mapunan ang kulang sa mga eskenita at HOA (homeowners’ association),” he said in a Facebook post.

To recall, it was in January this year when over 4,000 casual employees of Pasig City received an increase from P11,551 to P13,572 a month. Also, more than 300 medical volunteers in the city got a pay hike from P5,000 to P12,000.

Meanwhile, Vico Sotto is the son of actor-comedian-host Vic Sotto and actress Coney Reyes.

Sotto graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He later pursued a Master of Arts in Public Management at the Ateneo School of Government and graduated in 2018.

Prior to entering politics, Sotto taught social science at Arellano University for one semester.

It was in 2019 when he was elected as mayor of Pasig, ending the 27-year rule of the Eusebio family over the Pasig mayoralty.

During the 2019 elections, he campaigned on a platform called, “Big V” (Big Five) Agenda, which promotes universal healthcare, housing programs, education, public consultation, and anti-corruption efforts.

This year, the United States Department of State recognized Sotto as one of 12 recipients of the International Anticorruption Champions Award for his efforts toward anti-corruption.
