Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Eyes Full Unity following Sen. Bong Go’s Presidential Bid Withdrawal

SARA DUTERTE – The Davao City Mayor spoke on the decision of Senator Bong Go to withdraw from the presidential race in 2022.

Recently, PDP-Laban Cusi wing standard-bearer Sen. Bong Go announced that he is withdrawing from the presidential race in the Election 2022. According to him, he is not prepared for the presidential race as what he really prepared for is running for vice president.

Initially, Sen. Go filed his candidacy for vice president in the next election. However, following Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio making a decision to run for the same position, the Senator announced his withdrawal from the VP bid.

The slot for the presidential bet of PDP-Laban Cusi wing was open then and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte encouraged Sen. Bong Go to run for president. He pledged his support to him.

Sen. Go filed his candidacy for president in the Election 2022. According to Pres. Duterte, he will not support the presidential bid of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr., the running-mate of his daughter.

Following Sen. Bong Go announcing his decision to back out from the presidential race, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte stressed her belief in the full unity among their supporters.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Davao City Mayor stressed that Sen. Go’s decision came “for the sake of unity” among their supporters and leaders.

“Tuloy-tuloy na po tayo sa ating pagkakaisa kasama ang BBM-SARA Uniteam upang tayo ay magtagumpay sa ating hangarin para sa bansa,” the presidential daughter said.

Previously, Pres. Duterte expressed his disappointment that Mayor Sara is running for vice president. He claimed that the Marcoses are behind it citing that his daughter is leading the survey for preferences for president in the upcoming election.

Currently, Sen. Go is still an official presidential aspirant as he has yet to file his withdrawal before the Commission on Elections (Comelec). More updates may be posted soon.
