To avoid his supporters, Bong Go took a taxi on his way to the office of Comelec
BONG GO – The incumbent senator took a taxi on his way to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to avoid his supporters.
A few days after he announced he’s backing out from his candidacy, the senator formally filed his statement of withdrawal.
Go tried to avoid his supporters who were waiting for him at the Comelec office by taking a taxi.
He even shared a photo of him inside the taxi wherein he can be seen holding his statement of withdrawal.
However, he failed to keep it a secret because when he got out of the taxi, his supporters and members of the media immediately rushed to him.
“Wala na po ako sa karerang ito. Nakapagsalita na ako nung Nov. 30, pinaintindi ko lang sa supporters ko na nagre-resist ang aking puso, isipan sa pagtakbo,” he said.
His own family opposed his decision to run for the presidency. President Rodrigo Duterte and the PDP-Laban have not yet made an official statement on Go’s decision.
Meanwhile, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go has been serving as a Senator since 2019.
But before being elected as senator, he served in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet as Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and Head of the Presidential Management Staff from June 2016 to October 2018.
Go has served as the personal aide and special assistant to Duterte since 1998, back when Duterte was still mayor of Davao City.
At present, he is the chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography.
