Lakas-CMD Says President Duterte Didn’t Blame Party For Sara’s Decision To Run For VP

Lakas-CMD said that President Duterte didn’t blame the party for Sara Duterte’s decision to run for vice president.

LAKAS-CMD — The Lakas – Christian Muslim Democrats said that President Rodrigo Duterte didn’t blame the party for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s decision to run for vice president in the 2022 elections.

Lakas-CMD said that President Duterte didn't blame the party for Sara Duterte's decision to run for vice president.

On Wednesday, Lakas-CMD denied that President Duterte blamed the party for his daughter’s decision to run for vice president in the 2022 elections.

The party was responding to the allegation of DIWA party-list Representative Michael Aglipay that President Duterte was blaming Lakas-CMD for Sara Duterte’s decision to run for vice president at the time when Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go was running for the same position.

Senator Go eventually withdrew his candidacy for vice president under PDP-Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan) and substituted as a presidential candidate of the PDDS (Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan), beating the deadline for substitutions last November 15, 2021.

We would like to refer Rep. Mike Aglipay to the interview of the President last Sunday with regard [to] Mayor Sara’s decision,” Lakas-CMD said in a statement. “Nowhere in his statement did the President blame Lakas-CMD or any member of the party for the Mayor’s decision.

The party was referring to President Duterte’s interview with pro-Duterte vlogger Byron Cristobal, also known as Banat By, wherein the President expressed dismay that his daughter’s decision to run for vice president was decided by presidential aspirant and former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sara recently accepted Senator Bong Revilla’s offer to become Lakas-CMD chairperson.
