Kiko Barzaga Returns to Congress, Hopes to Avoid a Third Suspension

After Two Suspensions, Kiko Barzaga Returns

KIKO BARZAGA – The Cavite 4th District Representative has returned to the House of Representatives while expressing hope that he will no longer face another suspension or possible expulsion.

In a media interview on May 4, 2026, Barzaga said he is prepared to accept whatever decision Congress may impose on him, but he remains optimistic that no further disciplinary action will be taken. He explained that even if he were to lose his position, he believes he would still be fine because he has other opportunities outside of Congress. Despite his past issues, he shared that he is glad to be back and is aiming for a smoother path moving forward.

“Even if I lose my job in Congress, I’m pretty sure I’ll be fine since I have plenty of other opportunities,” he said. “I’m glad to be back. Hopefully walang suspension or expulsion,” he added.

Barzaga was first suspended on December 1, 2025, due to controversial posts he made on social media, including criticisms directed at the current administration. After serving a 60-day suspension, he faced a second suspension in February 2026, reportedly due to repeated violations related to his online statements. These incidents have placed him under close scrutiny within the House.

Despite these challenges, Barzaga maintains that he is ready to face any consequences from Congress, which he has previously criticized. He has also been linked to allegations involving former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in connection with controversial flood control projects, although these claims remain part of ongoing public discussion.

His conflict with House leadership dates back to September 2025, when he began openly criticizing Romualdez after leaving the National Unity Party. This move reportedly stemmed from accusations that he was involved in efforts to remove the former Speaker from his position. Now back in Congress, Barzaga appears determined to move forward while hoping to avoid further controversy and disciplinary action.
