Bongbong Marcos: “I have nowhere else to go. I cannot go anywhere. I will not change parties.”
BONGBONG MARCOS — The presidential aspirant said that he would run for president in the 2022 elections even after Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s recent political moves.
Mayor Sara withdrew her certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection as mayor of Davao City and also resigned from Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), the regional party she founded.
The Davao City mayor joined the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) as she took her oath in Cavite which led to speculations that she may run for president in the 2022 elections.
Amid the speculation that he and Mayor Sara would form a tandem for the top two elective positions, Bongbong told reporters at a chance interview in Cavite that he would continue with his presidential aspirations.
“Examine my situation, I have nowhere else to go. I cannot go anywhere. I will not change parties. I entered this race not to play any of these substitutions,” Bongbong said.

At the sidelines of a wedding he and Mayor Sara attended in Cavite, Bongbong was asked about Mayor Sara’s recent political moves. According to him, he entered the presidential race because he thought he should run for president.
When asked if he would be paired with Mayor Sara, Bongbong said everything was possible in Philippine politics, even up to the last moment.
Bongbong also said that he wasn’t surprised that there were speculations that Mayor Sara may become a substitute standard-bearer to a political party.
As Mayor Sara joined Lakas-CMD, she’s in a position to substitute either of the party’s COC filers for president and vice president.
