In response to Mayor Sara’s query on how best her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), can help make Bongbong’s presidential bid in the 2022 elections, Gadon encouraged her to run as Bongbong’s running mate.

According to Gadon, Mayor Sara can help Bongbong win by joining national politics as his vice-presidential candidate. In that way, Gadon said that the Philippines will have the “best of both worlds” because they can guarantee sincere and strong leadership.

Gadon also said that the Marcos-Duterte tandem for the 2022 elections was a partnership that “Filipinos truly deserve”.

He added that Mayor Sara’s vice-presidential candidacy could ensure the country continuity of the reform programs initiated by her father, President Rodrigo Duterte.

On the other hand, BBM will be the unifying factor that is urgently needed in order for the country to continue moving forward. He has outstanding ideas that once fully implemented, will fast track development in every corner of the country,” Gadon said.

Gadon also called on HNP leaders to convince the Davao City mayor to run for vice president “so that we will see her leading the country in 2028”.

Sara and Bongbong met in Cebu over the weekend and were reported to have held talks about the 2022 polls. The said meeting also fueled speculations that they discussed running together in the 2022 elections.

Mayor Sara, who filed her candidacy for re-election in Davao City, may still participate in the 2022 elections by substituting for certain candidates in whatever position she would want to.

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was asked during the Presidential press briefing on Monday if President Duterte was still convincing his daughter to run for president in the 2022 elections.

According to him, he talked with Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia in order to find out what was discussed in Cebu and Governor Gwen told him that Mayor Sara said of her possibility of running for president, “That ship has sailed.”
