According to the Vice President, Matula had been pushing for labor rights, an advocacy that she had also been fighting for way before she entered politics.

As a labor advocate, Robredo assured that Matula will fight for what’s right, good, and just.

Isinusulong niya ang karapatan ng mga manggagawa—isang adbokasiya na matagal na rin nating ipinaglalaban bago pa man ako pumasok sa pulitika. Bilang labor advocate, sigurado akong ipaglalaban niya kung ano ang tama, mabuti, at makatarungan, hanggang dulo,” Robredo said, referring to Matula.

Robredo’s announcement came 3 days after Matula and the rest of labor groups under the umbrella Alliance of Labor Leader for Leni expressed unconditional support for her 2022 presidential bid whether Matula makes the Senate slate or not.

Earlier, Robredo said that the 12th slot in her Senate slate will best represent the marginalized sector.
