Bongbong Marcos joined Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
On Tuesday, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr joined the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and assumed his position as the party chairman.
A statement from his camp said that the former senator took his oath as a party member before South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, the president of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, during the party’s 3rd anniversary.
Bongbong, formerly a member of the Nacionalista Party, assumed PFP chairmanship after taking his oath which was witnessed by his wife, lawyer Louise Araneta-Marcos, and their sons Simon and Sandro.
GMA News Online reported that the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) was a political party allied with the Duterte administration.

On the same day, the former senator announced that he will run for president in the 2022 elections.
According to him, he will bring back the “unifying form of leadership” in the Philippines. However, he didn’t reveal his running mate in his announcement.
Bongbong’s announcement ended months of speculations on his plan, which included teaming up with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.
To recall, Marcos lost the 2016 vice presidential race to then-Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo by 263,473 votes and protested his defeat before the Supreme Court, which eventually ruled in Robredo’s favor.
Meanwhile, the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for those running in the 2022 local and national elections was ongoing and will end on October 8, 2021.
As of this writing, 24 presidential aspirants — including Senator Manny Pacquiao and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno — officially filed their certificates of candidacy at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.
