During the BISErbisyong LENI on DZXL, the Vice President said that she had no choice but to decide before October 8 because she needed to be ready if her decision was to file her Certificate of Candidacy (COC).

Wala naman ako choice kundi magdesisyon bago mag-October 8. Kasi kung ang desisyon ko magpa-file, kailangan handa na ako by October 8,” Robredo said.

Manila Bulletin reported that the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) will run from October 1 to October 8 with the election period set to start on January 9, 2022.

However, the Vice President still has yet to make her decision because she wasn’t losing hope that she can unite the opposition, which lately had been fragmented because of the declarations by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao.

According to Robredo, she will continue to pursue talks to unite the opposition as long as the communication lines were open because her goal was “very clear”.

Kasi iyong 2022 ang daming nakakatakot na scenario na pwedeng mangyari. Ang number one nakakatakot na scenario makabalik ang mga Marcos. Yung pangalawang nakakatakot na scenario ‘yung nangyayari ngayon patuloy pa ring mangyayari in six years,” Robredo said.

With only two weeks left until the last day of the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy, Robredo said that there’s still hope to unify the “anti-administration forces”.

The Vice President admitted that there were some people who can no longer be pursued, but stressed that there’s hope until the candidates haven’t filed their COCs yet.

Aside from Pacquiao and Moreno, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson also announced his intention to run as president in the 2022 elections.

The more na magkaisa kami, the more na mabawasan ‘yung tatakbo against the administration, mas mabuti. Sana ‘yung desisyon naming lahat kung ano iyong makakabuti sa bayan,” Robredo said.

Robredo’s supporters have called on her nonstop in the past weeks to declare her bid for the presidency and even tied ribbons and posted messages of support at the gate of the Quezon City Reception House where the Vice President holds office. Her supporters also made #LabanLeni2022 a trending hashtag on Twitter.
