Sara and Baste Duterte will both seek reelection in the 2022 elections, according to the mayor’s spokesperson.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte will both seek reelection in the 2022 elections, the mayor’s spokesperson confirmed Thursday.
In a message to GMA News Online, Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco said that Mayor Sara and her brother will both run for reelection as mayor and vice mayor, respectively, in the 2022 elections.
“Yes, this is confirmed. According to Mayor Sara, she will run for reelection as Davao City Mayor and incumbent Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte will run for reelection,” Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco said.
Mayor Sara, who had topped presidential surveys, had said that she wouldn’t seek a national post in the upcoming elections as her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, accepted the nomination of the Cusi-led PDP-Laban party to run for vice president next year.
Earlier, Mayor Sara said that they have agreed that only one from the Duterte family should run in the national polls.

In a report on GMA Network’s “24 Oras”, Mayor Frasco said that Mayor Sara was “supportive” of her father’s decision to run for vice president and she’s calling on her supporters to be equally supportive to her father.
“But the matter of physically campaigning all over the country for PDP is totally different,” Mayor Frasco said.
According to Mayor Frasco, Mayor Sara’s decision remained the same that she will not share her light nor will she involve herself in the national campaign of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) next year.
