Fil-Am Rapper Ruby Ibarra Receives Leadership Award in the US

RUBY IBARRA – A Filipino-American rapper received Youth Leadership Award in San Francisco, California in the US.

The award was presented to her at a virtual awards event held on June 15 in conjunction with the celebration of Immigrant Heritage Month.

According to Vice Chair Mario Paz, the Youth Leadership Award recognizes a courageous immigrant leader age 35 and under, who has helped or inspired other immigrant youth.

For Commissioner Franklin Ricarte, Ruby Ibarra is an exceptional artist and talented documentary filmmaker.

“She’s definitely a role model for all young people looking to pursue their dreams,” Ricarte said.

Ruby Ibarra was born in Tacloban City. Some of the songs she popularized were “Us,” “Playbill $,” and “Here.”

The Filipino-American rapper recently released an album titled Circa91, in which she recounted her life as an immigrant.
