In a report on GMA News Online, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque told reporters that President Duterte will hold his weekly Talk to the People briefing on Monday night.

This confirms that the President will hold his Talk to the People tonight. I will join [the meeting] online,” said Roque, who was hospitalized due to COVID-19.

President Duterte’s weekly Talk to the People address was rescheduled twice last week. Roque didn’t give a reason why it was rescheduled the first time last April 5.

When it was rescheduled again last April 7, Roque attributed this to the Presidential Security Group (PSG) members who had tested positive for COVID-19.

Roque on Monday also argued that President Duterte didn’t have to publicize his work after the President drew flak over photos showing him playing golf, jogging, and riding a motorcycle inside the Malacañan compound amidst the surge of coronavirus cases and coronavirus deaths.

The President made the decisions he needed to make, such as the quarantine classification in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. He has supervision on the vaccination program, to ensure its rollout as soon as possible. Hindi kailangan magpakita ng patunay na siya ay nagtatrabaho. Hindi ganun ang istilo niya na ipagyabang sa tao na siya ay nagtatrabaho,” Roque said.

When asked where President Duterte stayed for the last two weeks, Roque replied that the President “never left his residence in Malacañan”.

GMA News Online reported that President Duterte had no scheduled public engagement since he personally received the 1 million Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses paid for by the national government at the Villamor Air Base last March 29, 2021.
