What will happen to ABS-CBN next year?
Buhay Partylist Representative Lito Atienza said that ABS-CBN is set to return in 2021 after its franchise was denied.
The issue on the franchise renewal of the TV giant became one of the most-talked about national issues of 2020. Following the shutting down of the network, shows were prompted to go online until the media company was able to have a partnership with Zoe TV.
For 2021, Atienza expressed that a positive thing will happen to the media company, based on the article from Pilipino Star Ngayon. He said in a statement that it is not just a guess or presumption that ABS-CBN will be back on air next year.
“Hindi hula yun, that’s a reality mangyayari ‘yun,” nang tanungin ko rin tungkol dito. “I am really confident, justice will prevail by next year,” Atienza said.
The former Mayor of Manila is one of the lawmakers who showed support for the Kapamilya network amid its battle for its franchise renewal.
“They were maltreated, they were maltreated, they were eventually assassinated, so they should be given justice,” the lawmaker added.
Atienza said that he is just giving the new House Speaker the time to settle as things should not be put in a hurry. He sees this matter as a major battle.
“But I am not shying away from the responsibility and for the opportunity to come – that I’m working on – para maibalik natin ‘yung floor discussion. Hindi ‘yung special firing squad. Ang pumatay sa ABS-CBN, firing squad lang, eh,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Carlo Katigbak, the Kapamilya network’s president, expressed gratitude to all the talents who chose to stay with them.
