Gretchen Ho on Gierran’s appointment: “In the middle of a pandemic”
Gretchen Ho took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter wherein she divulged her reaction on the appointment of former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Dante Gierran as the new chief of Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
On Monday night, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirmed via text message that President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed the ex-NBI chief to replace resigned PhilHealth president and CEO Ricardo Morales.
Morales resigned due to his medical condition as he claimed he’s undergoing treatment for lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph nodes.
His resignation came after the investigation of the alleged corruption within the state-run insurance firm.
Meanwhile, sportscaster Gretchen Ho earlier went to social media reacting to the appointment of Dante Gierran as the new chief of PhilHealth.
In one of her tweets, she shared a video of the ex-NBI chief while having a phone interview with Karen Davila on ABS-CBN News Channel’s Headstart.
In the said interview, he revealed that he has no knowledge about public health and he’s scared to take over in the embattled firm.
“I do not know what is public health. I do not know about that,” he said.
Karen Davila then read one of the qualifications to be appointed as PhilHealth CEO and president.
But in the later part, he said he has a background on financial management- as he cited being a Certified Public Accountant and also about law, insurance, and investigation.

Mr Dante Gierran is a lawyer and an accountant. That is more than enough qualification to see the flow of philhealth fund and the legality of its operations

He told that he has no background on health and well being but he is a lawyer and accountant too. Let us see what he can do as the newly appointed Philhealth President. Maybe “He will cross the bridge when he gets there” as the old saying goes
