COVID-19 Patient Escapes from Hospital & Sets Quarantine Facility on Fire

A COVID-19 patient who escaped from the hospital and sets the quarantine facility on fire in Barangay Guiset Norte in San Manuel, Pangasinan.

An 85-year-old man named Jacinto Delos Santos has been admitted to the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City after he tested positive for the coronavirus disease. Unfortunately, he run away from the hospital.

Mayor Kenneth Perez ordered San Manuel Rural Health Unit to place Delos Santos at a local quarantine facility. Perez decided to place him at the facility for his fast recovery from the illness.

However, Perez could not endure the confinement inside the facility and urged the personnel to release him. The duty nurse declined to grant his request to release him from the facility.

On Sunday (September 6, 2020), the COVID-19 patient set the social hall of the barangay quarantine facility ablaze. Jacinto set the quarantine facility on fire after the health personnel refused to release him.

The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) personnel immediately responded and totally put out the fire 20 minutes after it was started.
