Senator Ralph Recto Reacts to New Protocol on Motorcycle Barrier

Senator Ralph Recto: “The barrier to common sense has finally been lifted”

Senator Ralph Recto issued a statement in relation to the new protocol of the Inter-Agency Task Force that the motorcycle barrier is no longer required among riders living in the same house in areas under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Earlier, the Joint Task Force COVID Shield announced that starting Wednesday, August 19, motorcycle barriers are no longer needed.

“The barrier to common sense has finally been lifted. People were saying that if IATF can’t understand this simple thing, how can they be trusted on complex missions,” he said according to News5.

However, riders not living under the same house are not exempted. They are still required to have a barrier designed by Angkas.

JTF also reminded the riders and back-riders to wear a facemask and a full-face helmet when traveling.

The local government units under the modified general community quarantine have the option of whether to implement or not the new protocol depending on their situation.
