DOLE Issues Advisory On Payment Of Wages For July 31, 2020

DOLE issued an advisory on the payment of wages for July 31, 2020, in observance of Eid’l Adha.

DOLE ADVISORY — The Department of Labor and Employment on Thursday issued an advisory on the payment of wages for July 31, 2020.

This, after President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday signed Proclamation No. 985 series of 2020 declaring July 31 as a regular holiday in the Philippines in observance of Eid’l Adha.

Signed by DOLE Sec. Silvestre Bello III on Wednesday, the Labor Advisory No. 25 Series of 2020 was pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 985 that was issued by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte last July 29, 2020.

Citing Republic Act No. 9849, Eid’l Adha was one of the greatest feasts of Islam and was usually observed as a regular holiday.

To summarize, here are the following rules for pay on regular holidays should apply on July 31, 2020:

However, the Department of Labor and Employment said that employers were allowed to defer payment of the holiday pay in view of the existence of a national emergency arising from COVID-19 situation in the country until the current emergency situation had been abated and the establishment’s normal operation was in place.

Moreover, the Department of Health also said that companies that have “totally closed” or stopped operations throughout the community quarantine period were exempted from the payment of the holiday pay under DOLE’s Labor Advisory No. 25 Series of 2020.
