COVID-19 Death Toll Reaches 400,000 Worldwide

Over 400,000 deaths recorded due to COVID-19 as of press time

More than 400,000 deaths have been recorded worldwide due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic based on the latest tally.

According to the official sources of AFP, almost seven (7) million cases have been recorded since the virus infect 196 countries and territories last year.

Out of 400,052 deaths, almost half of the recorded fatalities have been registered to the European countries while the United States continues to surge with a whopping 109,802 deaths, followed by Britain with 40,542 and Brazil with almost 36,000 deaths.

Death tolls in Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador also continue to upsurge, while in Chile, fifty (50) percent of the death toll has risen in the past week, as stated in an article published by GMA News courtesy of AFP.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the Department of Health announced via its latest bulletin that the country has recorded 555 additional cases (378- fresh and 177- late cases), 89 new recoveries, and 9 new deaths as of Sunday, June 7, 2020.

Based on the record of the country’s health department, the Philippines has now a total of 21,895 confirmed cases with 4,530 recoveries and 1,003 deaths.

Coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic continues to devastate the entire world.

With the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases, leaders of different nations are doing their all in order to combat the spread of the deadly virus which started in China in 2019.

Among the safety protocols that everyone must observe are the following; social/physical distancing, wearing masks especially on pubic places, and using disinfectant from time to time if possible.
