In the fight against the spread of COVID-19, among the frontliners are the doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and the members of the military. They are those who have to go to work to treat the patients or to guard the movements of the people to limit the spread of coronavirus.

In the Philippines, the total confirmed cases of coronavirus is over 3,000 now and more than 100 people died of the disease. According to the Department of Health (DOH), more cases may be recorded soon as the testings have increased.

Sadly, in the fight against coronavirus, several medical personnel’s lives were put at risk. Some even lost their lives to the disease.

One of the frontliners who contracted COVID-19 is an ER nurse in St. Luke’s Medical Center, Francis Mey. In a Facebook post, she shared what happened.

According to the nurse, she was among those who handled the patients under investigation (PUIs) and in March 14, she started experiencing symptoms such as colds and dry throat.

The nurse also experienced severe headache. After her shift the next day, her specimens were taken. She was on quarantine after it and her body pains became more severe.

Based on the post, it was in March 28 when the ER nurse found out that she’s positive for COVID-19. She was worried that she might have exposed her husband and their childreb.

Francis Mey admitted that she is anxious and scared but she stressed that now is not the time to dwell on despair. She is positive that she is recovering and she is grateful to everyone who helped and reached out to her.

The husband of the ER nurse was also taken and he tested negative for COVID-19. Their children are also not showing symptoms and she is grateful for it. Here’s her Facebook post:

Get well soon Miss Francis Mey and to all the frontliners who are sick now because of their service to the people. May God bless you and keep you and your loved ones safe, heroes.
