Italy Records Nearly 1,000 Deaths Due to Coronavirus in Just 24 Hours

Update on the Coronavirus Deaths Recorded in Italy Amid the Outbreak

ITALY – The Italian authorities recorded nearly 1,000 deaths due to coronavirus in just 24 hours.

Sadly, the 2019 novel coronavirus which was first recorded in China has taken thousands of lives across the globe. Currently, the global COVID-19 death toll is over 27,000 already.

There is a total of over 590,000 coronavirus cases in the different countries. The recoveries is nearly 133,000.

One of the hardest-hit countries now is Italy. In fact, it is under a total lockdown and it records hundreds of deaths due to coronavirus daily.

Based on Worldometer, Italy recently recorded 919 coronavirus deaths bringing the total to 9,134. More than 5,000 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the country recently bringing the total to 86,498.

Initially, the lockdown declared by Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte only only covered Lombardy region and 14 provinces. Lombardy is the epicenter of the virus in the country.

However, the cases continued to increase despite the initial lockdown. The Prime Minister extended it to a total lockdown to limit the movements of the people which is an essential move in curbing the spread of the disease.

Currently, Italy is on a tough fight against the 2019 novel coronavirus. It is now a pandemic as declared by the World Health Organization (WHO).
