Here’s the reaction of former Senator Drilon on the first SONA of PBBM
FRANKLIN DRILON – The former senator reacted to the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
SONA is an annual address by the president of the Republic of the Philippines.
The speech is delivered every fourth Monday of July at the Plenary Session Hall of the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
It serves as a means to inform the nation about its present economic, political, and social condition.
On Monday, July 25, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. laid down his plans for the next 12 months in his first SONA.
PBBM shared the current situation of the country, especially with the pandemic brought by the coronavirus, the country’s economic status, and his plans for tourism, social welfare, agriculture and to name a few.
Among those who reacted on the first SONA of PBBM is no less than former Senator Franklin Drilon.
According to him, the president failed to tackle the state of the country’s justice system and rule of law.
“Wala akong narinig na reporma sa ating justice system. That is something I must assert na pagkukulang sa naging SONA ng Pangulo,” he said in a radio interview.
Some of the issues mentioned by Drilon are unsolved crimes, red-tagging, and extra-judicial killings that Marcos inherited from the previous administration.
Drilon was a long-time senator before he announced his retirement ahead of the May 2022 elections.
He also served as Secretary of Labor and Employment, Secretary of Justice, and Executive Secretary.
