Reportedly, there were moves asking the government of Taiwan to deport her. Philippine labor attaché Fide Macauyag sought this on April 25. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the OFW was sowing hatred on social media.

Additionally, the labor department stated that what Ordidor did was against the Republic Act (RA) 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act. The said law aims to punish people who committed libel through the internet.

If the person will be found guilty committing this crime, PHP250,000 fine is required to be paid, with a jail time of up to six months.

However, this was rejected as the Tawainese government allows freedom of speech of “both citizens and migrant workers” in the country. Previously, the administration already denied that it is seeking the deportation of Ordidor and that it is respecting the decision of the government of Taiwan.

In line with this, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque recently stated the side of the Chief Executive, based on the report from PNA.

“Ang Pangulo naman talaga, sa mula’t mula, bilang isang abogado, kinikilala ang importansiya ng malayang pananalita,” Roque said.

The spokesperson added that the Palace is leaving the fate of Ordidor to the government of Taiwan, based on the report. “Sila na ang bahalang mag-desisyon niyan,” he said.
