Vice President-Elect Sara Duterte Speaks on Aspirations, Plans as Next DepEd Secretary
SARA DUTERTE – The incoming Vice President expressed her hope that Congress will prioritize the mandatory ROTC in schools.
Presidential daughter and outgoing Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio won a landslide victory in the vice-presidential Elections 2022. He ran under Lakas CMD and was the running-mate of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer and president-elect Bongbong Marcos.
Last Sunday, the Vice President-elect had her inauguration in Davao City. Both her parents were present at her oath-taking. The Marcoses also came to the event and joined the Dutertes on stage.
President-Elect Bongbong Marcos Jr. wants vice president-elect Sara Duterte to head the Department of Education (DepEd). With gratitude, she accepted the offer.
As the incoming DepEd secretary, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, vice president-elect Sara Duterte expressed her hope that Congress will prioritize the mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).
Even before her victory in the vice-presidential election, Duterte was already vocal about her push for mandatory ROTC in the country. When she accepted the offer to become the next DepEd Secretary, her push elicited different reactions. She clarified that there is no link between her being the DepEd secretary and her push for mandatory ROTC as she will be leading the basic education department.
Based on the report, aside from the mandatory ROTC, the incoming Vice President also expressed her plan to look into the salaries of the teachers.
