JIM PAREDES – The legendary OPM artist took to social media wherein he criticized the “pagmamano” of Mrs. Sanvicente to PNP OIC LtGen. Vicente Danao.
It was on June 15 when hit-and-run suspect Jose Antonio Sanvicente surrendered to the authorities and apologized for ramming security guard Christian Floralde at the intersection of Julia Vargas and St. Francis Street in Mandaluyong City last June 6.
Sanvicente was accompanied by his parents and lawyer when he appeared before a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City, together with PNP OIC LtGen. Vicente Danao.
At one point, Mrs. Sanvicente was captured giving a “mano” to the PNP OIC.
Mano or pagmamano is an “honoring gesture” used in Filipino culture performed as a sign of respect to elders and as a way of requesting a blessing from the elder.
Among those who reacted to the said gesture is no less than legendary OPM artist Jim Paredes.
The Apo Hiking Society member took to social media wherein he criticized the gesture.
In a tweet, Paredes asked for clarification about the scene between Mrs. Sanvicente and Danao.
“Can anyone explain this?” he asked.
Paredes also shared another photo.
His criticism earned mixed reactions from the netizens.
“We can’t blame the girl Kung gustong magpa lakas Kay sir. Kahit Anong Gawin nila may kaso na. Managot sa batas ang may Sala,” a netizen wrote.
Meanwhile, PNP has been denying that Danao and the Sanvicente family have any connection. According to the police force, the press conference was the first time the PNP OIC and Sanvicentes meet.
