Political Party of Pres. Duterte Reportedly Backs Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Presidential Bid
DUTERTE – PDP-Laban, the political party of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is reportedly endorsing former Senator Bongbong Marcos as its presidential bet.
The Filipinos are currently a few months away from electing the next president of the Republic of the Philippines. There are currently 10 candidates for president in the upcoming poll.
Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos is one of the presidential candidates for the upcoming election. Undeniably, his presidential bid is controversial and it triggered a lot of issues about him and surrounding his family.
Marcos Jr. tapped Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as his running-mate. The presidential daughter is the vice-presidential bet of Lakas CMD while the former Senator is under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
Mayor Inday Sara is the vice-presidential candidate of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s political party, PDP-Laban. Despite the previous tirades of the Chief Executive against former Sen. Bongbong Marcos tagging him as a “very weak leader”, the Davao City Mayor is hoping that his father will endorse them as a tandem.
The 76-year-old President previously said that his daughter should be the one running for president as she is the frontrunner of survey results. In one of his interviews, he also warned the Filipinos about the corruption issues surrounding Marcos Jr.
Recently, Manila Bulletin posted that Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s PDP-Laban party is endorsing former Sen. Bongbong Marcos as its presidential bet in the upcoming May 2022 Elections. Reportedly, there is a resolution containing that the former Senator is the candidate whose “platform is most aligned with the development program of President Duterte”.
Furthermore, based on the post, the party also stated that Marcos Jr. is the candidate endorsed by most of their party’s local council.
