Sara Duterte told her supporters not to gather outside COMELEC office
SARA DUTERTE — The incumbent Davao City mayor asked her supporters not to gather outside the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) main office in Manila.
Mayor Sara said in a Facebook post on Friday that she didn’t want her supporters, as well as members of the media, to get sick even as she praised their dedication and courage.
She then told those in the provinces not to go to Manila because she’s in Davao City due to recent flooding and rains.
“Sa lahat ng aking mga taga-suporta, pati na po sa mga miyembro ng media — nakikiusap po ako sa inyo na sana ay huwag na kayong mag-camp-out sa labas ng Comelec,” Mayor Sara said. “Ulan at init ng araw ang inyong kalaban. Isipin nyo rin po sana ang kalagayan ng inyong mga pamilya.”
She then vowed to give an update to the public through statements, videos, and photos.

Mayor Sara made an appeal after she withdrew her certificate of candidacy for Davao City mayor, resigned from regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), and joined the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).
Lakas-CMD president House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said on Friday that the party wanted Mayor Sara to run for president, although the party will support whatever her decision may be.
Lakas member Anna Capella Velasco had filed a COC for president, while another party member Lyle Fernando Uy had filed a certificate of candidacy for vice president.
Mayor Sara can only enter the presidential or vice-presidential race via substitution and the deadline for the political parties to field substitute candidates was on Monday, November 15.
