The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan or PDP–Laban is a center-left to left-wing political party founded in 1982. It has been the ruling party since 2016 under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Earlier, the senatorial slate of the PDP-Laban Cusi faction filed their Certificate of Candidacy.

Among those who will run under the ruling party are; Information and Communications Secretary Gregorio Honasan III, Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Commissioner Greco Belgica, former public works secretary Mark Villar, Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, broadcaster Rey Langit, and actor Robin Padilla.

Right after the filing of their COCs, Senator Nancy Binay took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter wherein she expressed her disappointment to Comelec over “special treatment” to the ruling party.

Her post immediately earned mixed reactions from the netizens.

According to Binay, almost all Comelec protocols were allegedly violated by PDP-Laban candidates such as the three-person limit rule, physical distancing, and health clearance requirement.

Meanwhile, it was on Friday, October 8, when Comelec held the last day for filing of COC.

At the last minute, of COC filing, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa filed his candidacy as the standard-bearer of PDP-Laban.

He will go against presidential candidates such as; Senator Manny Pacquiao, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, and Senator Ping Lacson.
