Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez will run for senator under NPC, according to Senate President Sotto.
On Wednesday, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said that Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez will be part of the Lacson-Sotto senatorial lineup as she will run for senator under Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
According to Sotto, Torres would run for senator in the 2022 elections under the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
“I just got the go signal. Cong. Lucy Torres-Gomez will be in our lineup!” Sotto told reporters.
Sotto also said that Torres, a former showbiz personality and wife of Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, would be endorsed by the party. He added that Torres’ joining the party or running as an adopted senatorial candidate had yet to be discussed.

“It’s in the Lacson Sotto lineup. NPC will be discussing on [July 28],” Sotto said.
The senatorial lineup of the Lacson and Sotto team were the following: Francis Escudero, JV Ejercito, Richard Gordon, Goyo Larrazabal, Joel Villanueva, Sherwin Gatchalian, Gringo Honasan, Loren Legarda, Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Lucy Torres-Gomez.
According to Sotto, he’ll be consulting with his party mates about his candidacy with Senator Panfilo Lacson and lineup on July 28.

On Tuesday, Senator Lacson confirmed that he and Sotto would run for president and vice president, respectively, in the 2022 elections.
Citing Pulse Asia’s latest survey, GMA News Online reported that 4% of Filipinos said that they would vote Lacson for president while 10% of Filipinos said that they would vote for Sotto.
Based on a report, Sotto ranked 3rd among the preferred vice-presidential candidates in the upcoming 2022 elections, following Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
